Frame Works
The series Frame Works centers on the act of imagemaking itself, seeking to understand photography not as mere reproduction, but as a reflection — and reflexive examination — of its own conditions. The title plays on the double meaning of the term, referring both to the handcrafted physical frames of the works and to the „frameworks“ within which images are created.
In Color Field Photography, for instance, technical tools such as a color chart and a cutting mat are not used functionally, but are integrated into the composition as aesthetic elements. Self-representations, as seen in I Can Not and Perfect Symmetry (Butt Scan), explore the relationship between body, image and representation.
The works Arctic White and Smooth White depict near identical images, but with different reference points for white balance. Their titles refer to the color names of the mat boards onto which the photographs are mounted.
