Artist Statement
The paintings displayed in front of the window, Painting (Plank 1–8), are executed in oil on canvas. The video works, Hold That Pose (Helen Clare / Jackson), and the photographic selection in the second room — sixteen images chosen from the thirty-five in the Monument series — further expand the dialogue.
Together, these three bodies of work investigate facades and surfaces, each imbued with a subtle potential to shift in meaning the longer they are observed.
Given the exhibition’s strong architectural sensibility, Mihály Németh, an architecture and art historian, was invited to write an accompanying text — you can read it here.
