Borrowed Visions
UA26 is pleased to present a new guest project titled Borrowed Visions. This group exhibition explores approaches to looseness and slowness by incorporating the East Asian concept of shakkei - borrowed scenery - into an exhibition.
Through a variety of artistic approaches and the introduction of used furniture into this scenery of an otherwise empty apartment at UA26, the exhibition reveals subtle gaps and dislocations between physical and mental spaces. Similar to the concept of Shakkei, here it is the aim to blur the rigid boundaries between the works of art and their domestic surroundings. The exhibition encourages viewers to explore how spatial perception is constantly "borrowed" from diverse sources such as distant landscapes, memories, emotions, and systems, encouraging a contemplative viewing that unfolds gradually rather than having an immediate impact.
